Imitating Christ Jesus, the Saviour of the world!

The Name, Jesus Christ; you may have said it, or you may have heard this name. You may be wondering who it is? Or you may be wondering what at all is in this name. In simple terms, it is the name above every name on this earth, and in the whole universe. Here are a few things the name of Jesus can do:
First of all, the name of Jesus brings salvation.
Acts 4:11,12 makes it clear that “Jesus is the stone the builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone and salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved”. The writer of Hebrews chapter 7 makes it clear that “because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood (v. 24). Then in verse 25, he goes on to say that Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through Him because He always lives to intercede for them”.
The name of Jesus saves because of who the name belongs to. Jesus was exalted to the highest place and given the name that is above every other name. At the mention of His name every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord. This happened because of what He did—being obedient to death on the cross, being found in the appearance of man (cf. Philippians 2:8-11).

Also, the name of Jesus heals.
The disciples of Jesus in Acts 3, at around 3pm were going to pray when suddenly, they came across a man who was lame from birth, who was put at the temple gate. Peter in verse 6 commands the man in the name of Jesus to rise and walk. In verse 8 of the same chapter, we see that the man jumped to his feet and began to walk. Here is the thing; it takes faith to believe in the sovereignty of God especially when you pray for someone to get better from an ailment, because God hears us when we pray (cf. Proverbs 15:29). Moreover, there are several evidence in scripture that shows that the name of Jesus heals. Some examples as seen in the Bible are; Acts 3:6, Acts 9:34, Mark 1:34, Luke 4:40. Healing may happen instantly or delay. When it delays, you do not have to worry. God’s delay is not His denial because He is faithful.

The final thing I want to talk about is that the name of Jesus breaks chains and bondages.
Philippians 2:10 makes it clear that at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Colossians 2:15 also makes it clear that, Jesus disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them triumphing over them by the cross.

In spiritual warfare, the name of Jesus is very essential. It is a weapon that is used against the adversary. So, when someone is in any kind of spiritual bondage as a Christian, at the name of Jesus the person will be set free. The reason is because Jesus has won the victory over all other spiritual powers and rulers. Nothing can override the power in the name of Jesus that is able to set people free from Satan’s dominion, because Jesus has triumphed over them by the cross. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 puts it this way in the New International Version, “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

I want you to remember this. When using the name of Jesus, believe and do not doubt. Have faith in what you are praying about because faith can move mountains(cf. Matthew 17:20; Mark 11:23) God has made this provision for the Christian so that they live a victorious life in Christ.

Always remember, the name, Jesus Christ is above every name and every power submits to it. They have no option but to obey the name and every command made in the name of Jesus Christ.
