Imitating Christ Jesus, the Saviour of the world!

Have you ever wondered why the plans you’ve made don’t always come to fruition? Sometimes, you don’t even have the motivation to pursue that which you have planned? Even worse, nothing seems to be working how you want, and you keep asking why life keeps seeming unfair? (Life indeed may be unfair but there’s hope and I’ll tell you why) Or still, clearly you see a pattern and you’re dissatisfied and have decided to do everything possible to change it but nothing worked out as expected and you’re giving up or have already given up? Listen to this…

Life may be unfair because life is not perfect. Life is not perfect because we live in a broken world and you see how the rich keep being rich and the poor keep being poor, for example, and there are all sorts of ideas to bridge the gap of equality but things don’t seem to add up, really. The reason why all these happen in our world today, which have rendered humanity helpless in every way, is because sin came into the world as we read from Genesis 3 in the Holy Bible. After sin was introduced to man, then the relationship between God and man in the garden of Eden was fractured, and “life is unfair” begins. Mind you, before this fall of man, God and man lived in a perfect relationship where man was sufficient because of the nature of the relationship man had with God. In other words, God was the sufficiency of man because man had no need whatsoever as he was provided everything he would ever need, including that fellowship and intimacy with God. After the fall and sin came into the world, we see the sufficiency of man separated because man had become of sin and God doesn’t condone sin because that is the exact opposite of His nature (cf. Psalm 5:4) yet He loved man(cf. Romans 5:8). God is the sufficiency of man, and due to sin, the sufficiency of man was lost, and even more, sin “broke” the world.

Sufficiency is defined by the Cambridge dictionary as “the amount of something that is enough, or the quality of being good enough.” Merriam-webster also defines it as, “the quality or state of being sufficient” (which means the ability to meet one’s needs). Man’s (generic term for all mankind) need is the ability to be sufficient that is why we see all manner of things happen in our world today including “getting rich quick” through unjust and unscrupulous means and those who aspire to be rich one day to be able to spend on their lustful desires ( in relation to this, the Lord sounds a warning in James 4:2-4. Take time to read this, please). But here lies the case where life seems unfair because not everyone gets the opportunities other people get. Then the blame game starts!

Now how can we be sufficient in this broken world where “everything is unfair” as it seems even when we don’t get rich and do the luxurious kind of living we want or even when things don’t go as planned or when we get rejected or when we don’t seem to find the best person to satisfy our need of relationships and all that. Now, here’s the answer to man’s need; Jesus Christ- He is the answer to man’s desperate need. As humans as we are, we are limited in our vision(we can’t see the future), in strength, capability, understanding and insight, and even wisdom(this is not exhaustive).

These are things that if we had answers to, would make us think we’re sufficient. But no, we need more than that. Only Jesus can truly satisfy our insufficiency. Why? Because He is God who came in the form of man and died and was raised up to life to bring about restoration to that fractured relationship that man and God first had. Once He gets into your life, life begins to have meaning because He lets you know what on earth you’re here for. He fills that void of insufficiency because He is the sustainer of life(cf. Psalm 54:4;Isaiah 46:4; Colossians 1:15-17) itself and whatever condition you find yourself in, you realise that with Him in your life, you have great gain(cf.1 Timothy 6:6). You’re at peace and not frustrated. This world will frustrate you, but once you have Jesus, you find your sufficiency in Him, and you are satisfied with whatever you have. Man without God is insufficient, but man with God finds sufficiency because God is the sufficiency of man. We live in a broken world because the world thinks that it can survive without Jesus Christ. That’s alright because we have a free gift of salvation found in Jesus, which is not forced down anyone’s throat but it’s sad because the Lord Jesus Christ will come back to judge and take His own with Him.

If you want Jesus to come into your life and you want to make Him your Lord and saviour, pray this with me, “Lord Jesus Christ. I have come to understand that you’re the son of God. You are God, and without you, I’m insufficient. I confess you as Lord and saviour of my life today and ask that you fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I renounce the world and my old ways in your precious name. I part ways with the devil and the systems of this world, and I ask that you’ll lead me in every way. Help me submit to your words which you have spoken in your word, and I ask that your name be glorified in my life. Thank you that I have become your child this day forward. Thank you, Lord, amen!”

Congratulations and welcome to the body of Christ. Feel free to send me message if you need guidance on this journey of faith in Jesus Christ. God bless you. Shalom!
